Challenge
The APM Control Center needed a reliable and standardized alert level notification system to ensure timely responses to operational issues, infrastructure impacts, and safety related incidents. Existing practices lacked consistency, clear escalation pathways, and alignment with industry expectations, which created risks during critical events. Leadership required a structured framework that defined alert categories, triggers, procedures, and communication flows to support operational readiness.
Approach
The project followed a phased and collaborative process that began with a needs assessment involving Control Center staff, emergency management, and infrastructure partners. Existing protocols were reviewed and compared with industry standards to identify gaps. Using these findings, the team designed a tailored alert framework that defined categories, severity levels, and escalation pathways. Technical teams helped validate notification triggers through scenario based testing, and comprehensive. Standard Operating Procedures were created to document workflows, escalation steps, and communication routes. Training materials, workshops, and simulations were developed to ensure staff competency before implementation. The project concluded with rollout, monitoring, and recommendations for continuous improvement.
