Albert C. Black Jr. STEAM Academy (Dallas ISD)

STEAM Academy Transition and Launch Support

Challenge

Peace Elementary, formerly Elisha M. Pease Elementary in Dallas, Texas, merged with Bushman Elementary to become the new Albert C. Black Jr. STEAM Academy. The principal needed support in unifying two school communities, preparing staff and families for a new STEAM identity, and managing the complex logistics of relocating classrooms, materials, and instructional resources. Clear processes were required to ensure the move was organized, efficient, and supportive of teachers.

Approach

Custom Strategic Solutions helped the principal develop a structured transition plan that guided the merge of both campuses. This included creating communication materials for families and staff, outlining steps for readiness, and supporting early culture building for the new STEAM identity.

A significant component of the work involved designing and coordinating the classroom move process. This included creating checklists, timelines, room assignment guidance, packing procedures, and workflows to ensure teachers could transition their classrooms without disruption. CSS supported the principal with on the ground organization and planning that helped streamline how materials, technology, and instructional supplies were relocated.

Outcome

The principal gained a clear framework for leading the merge, organizing the classroom transitions, and introducing the STEAM focus to the school community. Teachers experienced a more efficient move with defined expectations and structured support. Communication to families and staff was more consistent, and the transition positioned the new STEAM Academy to begin the school year with a unified identity and strong operational foundation.

Proof

Through strategic planning, hands on logistical support, and development of clear moving processes, CSS helped strengthen the launch of Albert C. Black Jr. STEAM Academy. The work demonstrated an ability to support school leaders through complex transitions, improve operational readiness, and create systems that help educational environments move forward successfully.
